Common causes

  1. The door seal (gasket) is torn or has objects caught in it.
  2. The inlet or drain hose is loose or cracked.
  3. The detergent drawer is clogged and overflows.
  4. The pump filter was not screwed back in fully.
  5. The pump, internal hoses or the tub are cracked.

What you can check yourself

  1. Turn off the water tap and unplug the machine.
  2. Check the door seal all the way round, including inside the folds.
  3. Tighten the hose connections and look for cracks.
  4. Clean the detergent drawer and check the pump filter.

For your safety, unplug the machine before any check and do not open the cabinet.

When to call a technician

If the water comes from inside the machine, we open the cabinet, find the source and replace the seal, hose or pump. On Bosch and Siemens models, error E23 means water in the Aquastop tray.
